Root Canal Treatment (RCT) also is known as Endodontic Treatment is a procedure done when the tooth decay reaches the pulp (innermost layer of the tooth) causing inflammation. “Endo” is the Greek word for “inside” and “odont” is Greek for “tooth.” This treatment involves opening the tooth; removing the damaged pulp from the inside; and then disinfecting, shaping, filling and sealing the tooth. After root canal therapy, the tooth may need to be restored with a crown for protection. After that, the tooth will continue to function like your other natural teeth.
